Youth & Government/Student Council
Student Council is an organization at Lift for Life Middle school that involves approximately 10-15 members. Members are chosen through a nomination process each fall. Each class has 2-3 members and the eighth grade class has an additional 6-8 members who serve as officers. Student Council organizes many of the school-wide activities such as Spirit Week, Dances, Fundraisers, Prom, and Pep Rallies. The students work together to involve as many students as possible in all school activities.

Roundup Staff
The Roundup staff works together to produce the yearbook, the longest lasting record of your middle & high school years. The entire staff is involved in taking pictures, and planning the layout and general design of the book. The staff is open to all grades with the approval of the advisor.

Honors Academy: It’s Electric
Students learn about basic electricity and its uses and effects. There are several hands-on projects in which students will utilize electricity. They will also be able to explore careers in the electric industry.

Honors Academy: Intro to Computers
Students will learn computer building and maintenance. Students will also receive a computer upon completion of the course.

Honors Academy: Science Gone Mad
Students’ minds are challenged with a variety of science and math activities and experiments. Students will also be introduced to jobs in the science field.

Honors Academy: All About Style – Health and You
This class focuses on nutrition, trends, decorating, styles and fashion. Students will have the opportunity to do two office makeovers, as well as a bathroom makeover.

Roundup Staff

LFLA Ambassadors
Students are selected to be Ambassadors during the Spring/Summer of their Freshman/Sophomore year. There is an application and interview process. Ambassadors are peer helpers selected to represent the student body of LFLAHS.
What are Ambassadors?
Peer helping is based on the fact that youth often seek out their peers when they are experiencing some frustration, worry or concern. Adolescents want to help each other, yet they often do not know how or what to do. Ambassadors are trained and supervised to provide any or all of the following:
- listening and understanding
- friendship and support
- decision making assistance
- tutoring and academic help
- educational information
- role modeling for younger children
- mediation and conflict resolution
- problem-solving assistance

Honors Academy: Picture the Future
This class combines photography and creative writing to engage inner-city students in new ways of learning about themselves and their community. Some classes will be held at Washington University (transportation will be provided).

Honors Academy: Youth and Government
Students will learn about politics by developing critical thinking and analytical skills. They will learn the art of oral advocacy and gain a respect for the role of law and the judiciary. In addition, students will be involved in school projects like red ribbon week.
